Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics

Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Avoid Soup bowls and opt for cups instead at Village Inn.

Here's the problem with this place, two words: Bad Service. Waited ten min. To be seated when there were at least six open tables. Then waited forty mins for French toast and pancakes. When food arrived it was cold. The Village Inn in my hometown of Logan Utah is a great place. This place is a disgrace to VI locations everywhere

Great Pies. Pretty decent servers i guess but its sort of hit or miss. Food is good if you order the right thing. I've had bad service and normal service but never good service even when its not busy. I like it there tho i go almost every other day.

It's okay...nothing major stands out either negative or positive here. Customer service is hit or miss as is with many chains. Food is pretty typical for Village Inn/Baker's Square (same company...my mom used to manage one of the restaurants in California). My big complaint is that they have a REALLY limited menu after about 10 or 11pm...

I have one hour for lunch. I came in at 12 noon. The place has eight tables occupied I just got my bowl now: 12: 25. Two thumbs down!!

Decent and good... No frills. The layout is a little different and in some situations you have to walk around this huge circle to get to a set of tables... First World Problem, I know... was just a little awkward. Food was good and service matched. Clean and open atmosphere.

This is a village inn, know that goining in. I took my family in late night. Service was steller. Food was great for the place. If you are hungry, and want a burger or a omelette on the quick w/ a smile, Maybe even a laugh, anytime of the day. this is the place.

Hey, Village Inn! Not bad at all. One (maybe two?) steps up from Denny's or IHOP, but don't expect world class cuisine. I usually order the low-fat omelet with buckwheat pancakes, which is surprisingly good. And they serve breakfast all day! AND they're open 24 hours. Only negative is that they usually have a line out the door on Sunday mornings because of the church crowd. I like to support independent local businesses instead of chains, but unfortunately there just aren't any good mom and pop breakfast spots (that I've found) in Wheat Ridge.

We're visiting Denver for the first time; needed a late night dinner and Yelped up this place. Reviews seemed promising enough. Bottom line: would not go back. Over priced for quality level and lackluster service. Being after 10 PM, we received the limited Late Night menu. There were enough choices so I was fine with that except they only serve regular coffee at that time, not the other brews such as the darker roast. The regular coffee, while plentiful (free refills), is weak. I had about an inch left in my (brown) mug and could see clear to the bottom. Ordered a scrabbled egg and sausage quesadilla appetizer. Came out quick but the waitress did not bring extra plates so only the 5-year old was enjoying it. Finally got some plates after the rest of our meal arrived. It wasn't too bad. Hubby felt the eggs were a little runny and the sausage was of the fast food breakfast burrito variety (grey, mushy textured) but it was served with generous portions of sour cream and a yummy salsa. Entrees: bacon green chili melt, which the waitress made quite a point to let us know she had never heard of it in all her three months of working there. It was tasty enough, can't go wrong with bacon, and the fries were crisp and well seasoned. Child cheeseburger and fries was a good size and fries again good. Meat was too done but the roll was soft and yummy, slightly sweet. Chicken Caesar salad.... First strike was the near $9 price tag. Not sure what's up with restaurants charging so much for bowls of lettuce but it sounded simple and decent enough and after 24 hours of salty on a road trip food I wanted something fresh. Strike two powdered Parmesan cheese, like from a green shaker can. Last straw, nasty, tasteless watered down dressing. Looked like milk. Even a large dose of pepper couldn't save it. The chicken was seasoned nicely and well cooked but the portion was small, maybe five pieces. I took two bites and could not make myself eat more. For the first time in 25+ years of restaurant eating, I sent it back. Waitress made sure to let me know that they took it off the tab (duh) and the manager never came over or followed up, nor was I offered anything else. Ordered two servings if strawberry pie to end, mostly because I've been searching for it for several weeks in multiple states and was excited to finally find some. It was good enough, tasted like any other store pie but that's what I was expecting. Child liked the whipped cream. Our waitress, well, she got a pity tip for being incredulously unfamiliar with the menu, not bring plates out with an appetizer, forgetting extra napkins when requested, not checking on us after delivering entrees until we were almost finished eating, never offering water or coffee carafe refills, not sending the manager to follow up in the salad, not offering a replacement entree for the salad, making it seem like I was having a favor done by not charging me for the salad, and finally for implying that I was picky after asking if we liked the pie. Not going back, cannot recommend. Just not worth the cost or frustration.

The inside is completely remodeled, so don't let the outside fool you. Service was great. The waitress came by many times to ask if we needed anything else. The food came out amazingly fast (Thursday night, not too many people in the restaurant). Fairly good variety of foods. Good kids menu with crayons. Would give 5 stars if they served booze. :)

The manager called and was extremely personable. We chatted about the service and the food. We was extremely apologetic about the service, not so much about the food. My conversation with him was a pleasant diversion. He then asked what it would take to get me back in Village Inn. I honestly told him we would be eating there again in any event. My husband loves the place because they will serve him a medium rare burger. He offered to send me a gift certificate for our next visit and I accepted. I will update the review again depending on what happens on our next visit.

Quite frankly the worst breakfast experienced I've had in a long time. I this day and age, service and atmosphere are what people look for in a restaurant. It started with waiting 20 min to be seated even though there were many empty tables open. Next, it took 40 minutes from order to service to get some eggs and toast. Our server Ryan had trouble with the complicated nature of our order so we missed our muffin and toast. The manager was also about as smart as a doorknob The food was ok, nothing special. In all, not a place I would go again.

Good prices, good food. So 3 stars for that. However if "half the restaurant is closed" that's fine, whatever, but then be consistent. If it's "closed" and there are 5 tables with people sitting there shoving bacon in their faces then it's not "closed". Wth are they even talking about when "half the restaurant is closed"?! I don't get it. This place is weird. Facepalm. Next time I'll just go to Denny's. They're normal there. I like normal.

The food was tempting, but all of us felt gross afterwards. The air was quite cold, and the wait staff, lackluster. My friend experienced something gritty in her salad, like it hadn't been washed. Lunch sat heavy in our stomachs all day (turkey meal, eggs benedict, and a club sandwich) and even at dinner time, I cooked very light to keep it at bay. I'd probably skip this one.

I went to dinner with a party of four tonight at around 5:15 or so. There was no wait, and it wasn't very busy. A nice bustle in the dining room. Our server was greeting us before we even sat down, which bothers me when there's elderly that are going to take a minute to sit. She introduced herself and got our drinks; when asked what kind of fish the grilled fish was, she wasn't sure. Beyond the order taking, she was very friendly though not as attentive to refills as some might like. I ordered the Philly Flatbread with a caesar salad. The salad came out promptly, but the dressing was on the side...isn't half the perk of a caesar that it's tossed? Quality of both the salad and the flatbread weren't bad, but they weren't great either. You get what you pay for. I then had the Candy Cane Pie for desert. Very good pie! Not at all an overpowering peppermint taste; just enough with some chocolate crust to offset it. Not excellent, but you get what you pay for. Overall I don't like how much the servers seem to be overworked. When you're managing 6-some odd tables, the service is expected to be below average. This was the second time I've been here, and before was no different. This has nothing to do with the restaurant if it's a corporate decision, however. It's decent for what you pay for, but there's much more room for potential.

My grandmother gave my husband a gift card for the "Village", so off we went. Service was prompt and nice. The waiter came by several times to refill our water and make sure everything was fine. I ordered the chef salad. They didn't skimp on the meat, as a matter of fact, they didn't skimp on anything. IT WAS HUGE, for 8 bucks it was well worth it. HUbby had the southern fried steak, he devoured it so I guess it was good! We don't normally eat at chains but this is a nice one. Good service, decent food and it's really clean. Hey they have WIFI!

It's a Village Inn, so go in with that in mind and don't expect top of the town cuisine. What I love about this place is that they will accommodate you and your laptop and your camper ways seemingly forever. If all you want is a pot of coffee (not bad) and a slice of pie (good) and not to be bothered for the hours while you are there, then that's what you'll get. They'll never hurry you along or pressure you to buy more to justify your presence. They aren't intrusive and really get that you just want a clean, well-lighted place to write the next great American novel, stream a movie, or just to hang out. Staff is friendly and will stop whatever they are doing when you do want something. Edit 9/22/11: The last couple of times I've been here I was completely ignored and had to leave the table to find a waitress. She seemed busy with full tables and I get that, but really, fifteen minutes? It wasn't THAT busy. They have some new staff here so maybe they're still learning the ropes. Twenty minutes and counting before I even get my coffee and water, much less to order. Jeez.

Great service, great food. What I HATED about the place was the acoustics. Don't bother going if you want to chat with your friends/family. Everything was "echo-y". It was so loud, between their music, TVs, and people blabbing and cackling, I left with a migraine. I had to keep saying "What? I can't hear you" in there. Everyone in my group and I were not too pleased by the time we left, we were going to just hang out and chat but we were like, no way. So we all crowded ourselves in the van and chat in there. Not comfortable at all. But at least we could talk and hear each other. Won't be going back too soon.
